Ma.K. WIP 6 Salt on the Suit
Starting with the suit. Here's the best part. Gonna use the salt technique. The problem with this technique is that we have absolutely no control over where the salt falls. But i think it is perfect for a beat down abandoned and left to rot suit.
So here goes. Firstly i sprayed the suit with hull red to give the basic rust color. Don't need to spray the hull red so evenly let the patches of black base coat show through adds to the depth of colors later.
Then i add abit of toning to increase the depth of colors on the model.
Normally thats the end to the initial process. My advice to people when it comes to weathering is knowing when to stop. But seeing as i will be going overboard with this i decided to continue by sponging the model with Black and then Bestial Brown (which is nice rich rusty looking brown) again i refused to stop when i knew i had to but just went on. And then sealed it with gloss clear coat.
Here comes the best and scariest part Hairspray and dump salt on the model. Normally i try to control the amount of salt but in this case i just went overboard again (with both the salt and hairspray; really hope this works). Another thing im doing differently is the waiting time. I only let the hairspray dry for an hour (normally i leave it for a day). Again im shortening all the times to get more of the rust color to be shown.
Finally i sprayed the a white grey color which is suppose to be the original color of the suit. I kept the paints slightly diluted to get the halo effect as you can see on the helmet (again hope this turns out well).
Now wait till the paint dries. Normally a day but im gonna rush it so that more of the paint peels off when washing. Well thats all for now thanks for viewing.

Ma.K. WIP 5 Painting of Base started
Another small update. Started painting the base. Just putting in the basic colors and dry brushing the parts. Long way more to go.

Ma.K. WIP 4 Composition
Redid my composition for the Luna Pawn. Didn't like the old one. Realized after a nights sleep the problem: no vertical balance. So extended the wall and replastered the wall, added more broken bricks on the ground.
Also puttied parts of the suit to give a cast iron look for some parts and rusting texture for others.

Ma.K. WIP 2 (Oil Drums)
Small update on the Ma.K. WIP
Learnt this from another online forum. How to make oil drums.
I decided that i would have some oil drum lying around rusting away with the suit. But don't know where to buy so the next best choice. Make ur self.
Start with a aluminium sheet try not to get one which is too thick or too thin. probably the thickness of your art block paper. Stick two rods to a piece of board and place the aluminium on top and rub.
Place a wire on the top and bottom of sheet and fold it.
Next get some thing round and just roll it.
Final result. Not perfect but im gonna crush it anyway :P If someone can find out how to do it better pls place another tutorial.

Ma. K. Groupbuild
Suddenly interested in Ma.K. so i joint a local group build here's what i've done so far. :P
Started with the idea. The idea was to do something that I have not had the chance to do in a 28mm scale which was intense weathering and rusting to the point that it is a piece of junk. So i thought that 1/20 scale model would be great to try out all the techniques which i could not do in 28mm.
The title of this piece is "THE FORGOTTEN". The basic idea is a KIA Ma.K. suit and it has been left to rot and corrode.
I started with the head and how the pilot was killed. One shot to the forehead (Cliche i know). So i had so resculpt the head. And since the kit already had a head i decided waste not want not. :P
First step remove the 'flesh'. Had to shave the head and drill holes in the eye socket.
Step two cover it all again with green stuff.
Step three pick up your tools and work on it. (ok i know i missed a heck of a load of steps but i forgot to take pix of my progress). It has been too long since i sculpted and it did not turn out well but never mind the focus should be on the suit (i know excuses excuses... I suck...)
Then had to repose the suit and stuff in green stuff to all the joints. Again my lack of practice after leaving sculpting with green stuff for so many years shows.
So much more to go. Hope to be able to update soon :P
